I moved to Tidworth in the winter of 2017/18 with my partner Beth along with our menagerie; spaniels, ponies and chickens. I live by the polo ground and spend a lot of my spare time continuing to restore the house, which was derelict when we arrived…and still looks a bit that way now! I’m a botanist by training and for the last 20 years I’ve works as an ecologist, first for the Environment Agency then in the private sector. I’m self employed and enjoy the flexibility that gives me to take a very active part in bringing my two daughters up. Currently I’m working for Somerset County Council, in a home based role, as part of their planning team providing ecological assessment of planning applications. In my spare time I support my family with their horse riding and am continuing to explore the local area and learn about the amazingly diverse local biodiversity. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived and that’s spurred me to put some time back as a Councillor and see how I can support the community and the local environment by protecting and developing the biodiversity.
